2022 International Spirits (China) Awards Gold Award.
Made from the finest rice harvested fresh across China, Grand Talon Rice Wine is forged by master craftsmen of Guangdong Province using age-old artisanal methods. The pure and delicate wine is first fermented and matured in traditional clay vessels, revealing subtle golden hues.
The ageing journey continues in both virgin French and American oak barrels, with the wine then carefully blended to gift the senses with inviting aromas of Muscat, poached plum and toasted chestnuts. Upon sipping, the complex palate of fruit cake, Pedro Ximénez sherry and crisp apple linger favourably.
Product Name: Grand Talon Oak Barrel Brewed Huangjiu
Details: Alcohol content is 16%, each bottle is 750 ml.
Ingredients:
- Rice: Sourced from the upper reaches of the Nenjiang River in Qiqihar, grown in collaboration with local farmers. Only one crop of green glutinous rice is planted per year, and the time from processing and milling to production does not exceed 21 days.
- Qu (yeast): Cultivated with excellent strains, made with whole rice flour without additives like wheat bran or chaff that cause off-flavors. The sources of qu and raw materials are strictly regulated for safety.
- Water: Production water is strictly filtered using reverse osmosis and ceramic ultrafiltration equipment, removing harmful substances and retaining beneficial trace elements without any off-flavors.
Process:
Pearl Red Huangjiu (Rice wine) uses high-quality single-season glutinous rice from Northeast China, blending traditional brewing methods with the “three-step liquor addition” technique to ensure a mellow sweetness. After initial brewing, the liquor is aged for three months in clay jars, then filtered using the “bamboo basket filtration” method without any added caramel color, resulting in a stunning golden clarity. Notably, Pearl Red innovatively ages the unheated huangjiu in American oak barrels for a second maturation, giving it a deeper, richer flavor. Unlike the common water addition fermentation, it uses Sherry wine brewing techniques, strengthening the wine by adding 40-degree baijiu at a key fermentation stage, naturally enhancing the sweetness and complexity of the huangjiu.
Flavor:
Emits a rich aroma of musk, stewed prunes, and roasted chestnuts, creating a layered taste experience. The rich mouthfeel is like indulging in a silky liquid cake. Whether paired with Chinese cuisine, Western dishes, or enjoyed alone, it offers unexpected flavors, with every moment full of delightful surprises.
Packaging Features:
Winner of the Gold Award for Packaging Design at the International Spirits Competition. The bottle is round and jade green, sealed with a cork stopper, and the middle of the bottle is engraved with dragon scales, embodying an elegant Chinese aesthetic.
